I visited childrens A&E last wk with my daughter who wokeup form sleep at 5am with pain. brought her down to A&E. night nurses were good and my daughter was assessed by nursing team fairly quickly. There were only 3 pateints in A&E at that time which was very unusuall. My daughter wasnt seen by the doctor untill 0730. and on asking I was told by the nurse that its 3 and half hrs waiting time. my understanding was waiting time is more if A&E is busy which wasnt looking like it on that day. Eventually we weresent home without any further ivestigations as ECG which was done on initial assessment by nurse was all good.
I think if someone is complaining of pain in breathing DR should atleast do an x ray to see if the person is startng chect infection. even though i asked for it but i was told it might be just start but by all mean comeback if problem get worse. (so do another trip and waith another 2-3 hrs to be seen)
On top while our stay the shift changed and none of the morning shift nurses were seem bothered to come and say hello to the patients or mums, they were more busy in talking about their flights and how husband was running to get the plane (majority staff was sisters)
I will mention again the night nursing staff was very good and caring.
"not happy"
