About: Royal Preston Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

On Saturday 09/05/09 I delivered our baby at Royal Preston Hospital's Maternity Unit, having been admitted for an induction to Mat Ward A on Friday 08/05/09. I can not praise all the staff involved in the care of our baby, myself and my partner, highly enough. The midwives were exceptional. They were extremely professional, hard working and dedicated. They treated us with dignity & respect. They were caring and patient. They clearly explained procedures and options available and did all of this in a friendly & approachable manner, maintaining a fantastic sense of humour. The two Doctor's which we saw were also exceptional. Our delivery wasn't straighforward & they both clearly explained options, procedures etc in a clear & concise way. Our baby was delivered by Ventouse, the Midwife was unbelievably calm & professional which in turn served to reassure us massively. The anesthetist similarly was calm, professional & clearly explained the procedure in such a way as to reassure us completely. All the staff on Maternity Ward A & Maternity Ward B were fantastic. They were helpful, well informed, professional and friendly. The wards were clean and well equipped.

What could be improved

I cannot fault the service we received. The only thing which would have improved our experience was if my partner would have been allowed to stay beyond 8pm on the night our baby was born. It would have been great to have his support & it would have been great for him to spend the first night with us.

Anything else?

Our utmost respect and heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the Sharoe Green Unit. You were absolutely fantastic. Please can you ensure our comments are fedback, as hard work and professionalism often gets taken for granted. Thanks again!
