"not a lot"

About: Pilgrim Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

not a lot

What could be improved

I volunteered to take my brother to the fracture clinic to have a broken hand checked up on. He had been given an appointment and we arrived with 20 mins to spare. The clinic was busy and there was a sign saying 'it may appear people are being seen out of order but we have several clinics taking place'. This was acceptable until all the people in the waiting room were seen and then replaced with new people and these were all seen and we were still waiting there 2 hours later. The nurses were enjoying lots of private conversations and seemed in no hurry to actually get through the patients waiting. When we did actually get seen 2 hours after the appointment time we were given the doctor saw us for 2 mins and said everything was fine. I do wonder why it took so long for this to be sorted and wish that the nurses, who I'm glad enjoy their job, could actually do what they are paid for and treat patients rather than use the time to have social chatter. It is rather insulting to sit there waiting patiently and see the staff larking about, is my time not as valuable as theirs? Clearly not!

Why give appointment times if there is absolutely no intention of sticking to them?
