After suffering with a gynae problem for over a year I was so relieved when I had my first consultation with the the lovely consultant who immediately said what my problem was and that they could quite easily resolve it in theatre. Although this was fabulous news I was also very apprehensive because since a RTA 25 years ago, I am paralysed from the neck down and a full time electric wheelchair user and although I've spent lots of time in hospital and had multiple procedures i've only ever been to the Midlands centre for spinal injuries which specialities in treating people with my injury and never stayed in a 'general' hospital. There was nothing ordinary or general about the level of service and care that I received from Good Hope this past week; from the initial phone call to book my appointment and pre med, to being admitted onto ward 2 yesterday morning 7/7/2015 - everyone I met was utterly professional and caring and my complicated needs weren't made to be an issue and there wasn't anyone who could of done better! My whole experience yesterday was made easy and uncomplicated by everyone working together as a fabulous team; but I would like to say a very special thank you to the ward sister who is one of life's natural carers and certainly put my mind at ease before I was placed in the more than capable hands of the anaesthetists and the lovely theatre staff. I feel the need to mention the anaesthetist practitioner who certainly went over and above their job yesterday and made what could of been a potentially traumatic operation (major blood pressure complications) as comfortable as it possibly could be -that sort of care and understanding is as important as any medication, especially when you are relying on people for your every need. The only Minor issue throughout was a delay getting my TTO's but the nursing staff did keep ringing and keeping me informed. I just wanted to say thank you all for the top class treatment I received yesterday and to the consultant you have hopefully allowed me to be able to live my life again (lots more restaurants on the to do list) thank you!
"Nothing general about my level of care"
