What I liked
What i liked about the hospital was that it stopped me from being more ill, or being more sick, so in essence, it did its job, and i like that, i lke being alive
What could be improved
-Communication between staff members
-Communication between staff and me, or family members
-General Communication!
-Some of the staffs attitude!
Anything else?
I collapsed on a day out in welwyn garden city and was picked up by ambulance and taken to the QEII.
The general lack of communication from start to finish was impressive! or not so...out of 20 people i may have seen, i felt comfortable with 4 of them. This disturbed me. No patient needs to feel worried about being in the right hands when they have no idea what is going on. All i could here was, "how do i do this?" "where's that?" "should i do this again?" "oops, i did that wrong" ...?!? Few of the staff took charge which relaxed me and made me feel better. That was all just in the ambulance. They were the better staff of the experience.
On arrival to the hospital, i felt like i was looked down on- i got the impression they had "oh, the young lad who's been laying in the sun all day taking drugs or drinking" running through their heads whilst treating or talking to me. LET ME MAKE CLEAR, THAT WAS HAD HAPPENED THAT DAY! And to be quite honest with you, i'd place money on the fact that they couldnt tell you what was wrong with me. They didnt, they took what i thought were a few poor stabbs in the dark and just passed me on from one nurse to another, some very nice, some i'm not sure why are nurses! if you dont want to be there, dont!? I felt like they completely assumed the circumstances, and the sort of irresponsible person that i am not! not impressed! I was too weak to answer back to everything they said, so when i could i made sure i was polite to try and calm what felt like a hostile environment.
This is my first visit to a hospital since being back in the uk for 3 years, and granted they did not know this, there was absolutely no information of what was to happen next!? no follow up.where did my test results go? When do i get to find out what wrong with me? nothing! my family members who were their werent told anything either... not good!
basically, to the staff who were nice and helpfull, thankyou, to the others, you put us tax payers to shame!
