What I liked
The efficient way in which I was processed through the system from pre-op. to final post-op. discharge. I was kept informed by all the appropriate medical staff as to what my treatment would be, what the complications might be, and various other pieces of information. I was able to ask questions and received detailed and explicit answers. As a retired scientist I found this helpful.
Congratulations and many thanks to all those who took care of me, especially my saviour who made me toast at 01:30 in the morning, following the op.! I had not fed properly since the day before the op., so was pretty ravenous.
What could be improved
Only two things worth mentioning. The first was that I had to be at the ward by 11:30. I did not go to the theatre until 16:30; most of the time I metaphorically spent twiddling my thumbs (well, reading actually). A more realistic time of arrival would have been 14:30. It happens in private treatment - the time of arrival is given and also the time of the op.
The second moan concerns the problem of a shared ward, that of other people's noise. Adjacent to me were a family group who carried on endless banal jibber-jabber for considerable time, even at one point making and receiving a mobile 'phone call. This latter was in spite of hospital regulations. I don't suppose the hospital can do much about the endless chit-chat...
Anything else?
I am very glad that the PR is still an A&E hospital. It is a very convenient hospital for those of us who live in Mid-Sussex. I would not have agreed to have the op. had it been in Brighton - it is so difficult to get to and from. PR also has MUCH better signage!
