"Lack of compassion"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Recently attended University Hospital Monklands. ED doctor lacked compassion and professionalism. Insisted I got onto a trolley despite being unable to weight bear on right leg. Daughter had to assist. Doctor insisted the brakes were on but the trolley rolled back causing further pain.

Denied x-ray as no mechanical cause for injury despite history of osteoporosis and spinal stenosis. No analgesia. Offered physio assessment. Waited extended period. When I asked what the physio could do due to extreme pain on movement and weightbearing, doctor abruptly said - Why did you come to A&E?

I left feeling angry, a burden and still in pain. I absolutely would not have attended the department if I wasn't in as much pain. I would not put myself at risk of flu as I have COPD. The pain was acute with no explanation.

The doctor could be clearly heard speaking to physio on the phone discussing my current situation. Apparently I could transfer from my wheelchair onto the trolley, I could get about the house with an elbow crutch independently. No mention of acute pain and the fact it took my daughter to physically lift me onto the trolley.
