I had my daughter by emergency C-section in October 2024. It was a high risk pregnancy after my 1st son was born very prematurely. My care from start to finish was excellent and all the staff really went above and beyond for me and my baby.
I was very anxious after my 1st son was born at 31 weeks in 2021 - all the staff were so kind and patient (despite me asking for constant questions and reassurance!!) and made me feel very safe throughout the process.
In particular, I am so thankful for the care of my consultant, Dr Richardson in Fetal Medicine, who was an excellent Dr to me and my baby. She provided care above and beyond, and did everything she could to help me to feel safe and keep my baby safe. I felt listened to at every stage. Secondly the 2 Drs who performed my C-section were amazing (David and another lady who I have unfortunately forgotten the name of!).
Secondly, I'm very grateful to all the nurses at day care, particularly the 2 Fionas and Chris, who put up with my extreme anxiety for my many visits during my pregnancy! They were all very kind, patient and caring.
Each time there was a potential issue or problem, it was investigated straight away and I was offered follow up/checks to ensure my baby was ok. Things were always clearly explained to me and my repeated anxious questions were always answered. The staff up at maternity assessment were also very kind.
Just a general big thank you to all the maternity Dr's and nurses at the QEUH. Thanks to them I have 2 healthy children who are thriving. I'm so grateful me and my children had access to such an amazing team of people!
