I recently had a minor abdominal surgery (umbilical hernia repair) in the SAU at the Golden Jubilee and I was so impressed by this hospital and the level of care I received.
All the hospital staff that I met (from the nurses, auxiliary staff and cleaners in SAU (and also pre-assessment a couple of weeks before), through to the nurses, doctors and specialists I dealt with in anaesthesia, theatre and recovery) were amazing. They were so lovely and friendly, and took the time to explain things, answer my questions and keep me updated and comfortable through the day.
They all helped to put me at ease for my first ever anaesthetic and surgery, and I'm so happy that everything went as planned and I was back home the same evening. I also called with a query about my wound and spoke to a very helpful nurse in SAU straight away.
All areas of the hospital I visited were immaculately clean and the SAU is very modern and comfortable. I had my own private pod for the hours before and after my surgery, and was very well looked after with cups of tea, tasty soup, a sandwich and lots of biscuits once I'd recovered (what more could you want?!)
I love our NHS and I appreciate it even more now. Thanks so much ❤️
