"Poor A&E experience"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

In comparison to my other positive story about an A&E experience elsewhere, I was admitted to my local hospital, The Royal Oldham, earlier this year with pneumonia, kidney failure and suspected sepsis.

I had repeated blood tests on arrival, despite my CRP levels being at 200 from blood tests only a few hours ago at my GP's surgery and all them records being on their system. I spent 25 hours sat in A&E, on metal seating (i was being treated at the time), then another 14 hours on a trolley in a corridor, repeatedly being told I needed to be admitted as I was very poorly. I was finally discharged with oral medication as my body had reacted well to IV medication.
