"I felt intimidated and belittled"

About: Sandyford Clinic

(as the patient),

I felt intimidated and belittled by the nurse’s demeanour. Rather than being met with the compassion and professionalism I expected, I was made to feel uncomfortable and dismissed. The nurse's tone and attitude left me feeling small and unsupported at a time when I was already feeling vulnerable.

I am crying and physically shaken up and asked to leave the building with no resolution or help to problem.

I fully understand that healthcare professionals work in high-pressure environments, but I believe patients deserve to be treated with respect, empathy, and dignity—none of which I felt were afforded to me during this interaction.

This experience has not only caused me significant distress, but it has also made me hesitant about seeking further care. I am raising this complaint in the hope that it will be taken seriously and used as an opportunity for reflection and improvement, so no one else has to feel the way I did.

Dear Greenstraw25

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We are sorry to hear how upsetting your experience was - we do not want any of our patients feeling vulnerable or unsupported.

As Care Opinion is anonymous, we are unable to follow up with you directly. If you feel able to, we would encourage you to contact our Complaints Team so we can look into this further and provide a more detailed response. You can contact our Complaints Team @ ggc.sandyford.complaints@nhs.scot. It would be useful if you could include the link to your Care Opinion story. https://www.careopinion.org.uk/1396203

Thank you
