I was referred to podiatry by the district nurse as I had a in infection in my toe.
I was sent an appointment letter and the day before my appointment I received an answer phone message asking me to call back about my appointment. I rang back the next morning, had my appointment confirmed by the booking’s receptionist who gave me directions to the centre.
When we arrived for the appointment, the centre receptionist could not find us in the diary. The consultant managed to fit me in anyway and explained what had happened regarding my appointment. It turned out that the district nurse had referred me for toenail surgery, and upon checking her patient list the consultant said that she wanted my appointment cancelled and rescheduled as I hadn’t had an initial consultation.
This is why the first message was left on my answer phone. Then when I called back on the morning of my appointment, the next receptionist didn’t know that my appointment should have been rescheduled and confirmed the original appointment which we turned up for.
It was a proper hassle, however the staff at the centre were lovely, and the consultant was very efficient and fixed my problem.
