"Parkinson’s Power Up Course"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Parkinson's Service

(as a service user),

I have recently completed the Power Up course run by Suzanne. Firstly I would like to express my thanks to whoever devised the course. This course is designed for people, like myself who have recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s and their partners. It includes Pilates, Nordic Walking and an introduction to different types of exercises for those with PD.

So while we were being introduced to the benefits of exercise and the very important role it plays in assisting with the symptoms of PD our better halves were involved with finding out about how they could assist us living with it.

Finally we get together as one group to give feedback and participate in dialogue with Suzanne about meditation, motivation, diet, etc.

In conclusion, what made this course a particular success was the delivery by Suzanne and her team, Bea and others, delivered with respect, understanding, patience (in my case), empathy and professionalism.

Dear Mills43,

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave feedback about Power UP! I am very pleased that both you and your partner enjoyed the specially designed exercise and supporter sessions and that you both found the education sessions informative.

I started Power UP! in 2022 and I've been evolving it over the years using constructive feedback from all participants. The course works I believe for a number of reasons, everyone who attends participates by sharing their stories and giving it 100%. There is also a fantastic group of volunteers from the Northern Devon Branch of Parkinson's UK, the combination of this makes it the success that it is.

Many thanks

Suzanne
