"High quality treatment for a broken arm"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Physiotherapy Services / Orthopaedic Ward 8/1 - Physiotherapy Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic Outpatient Department Trauma & Orthopaedics / Orthopaedic Outpatients

(as the patient),

I broke my humerus whilst on holiday  and came back to Perth for treatment. NHS 24 took my details and arranged an appointment at Ninewells within a few days. There I was seen by the trauma team and given helpful and clear advice on how the healing process would proceed and what treatment I would receive. My next appointments were in Perth Royal Infirmary, this was chosen because I live in Perth itself.

In PRI I received excellent services from the trauma and fractures team. They were all very caring regarding my physical condition and also regarding my overall well-being. In the early weeks of treatment I was often in a lot of discomfort and the staff responded to this with care and sensitivity.  Appointment times were all arranged to suit me and on arrival, I usually I waited no more than 15 minutes to be seen.  I was given regular updates on my progress and what the next steps would be regarding treatment and further appointments.

The care I received from the nurses and the consultant was excellent.

After the healing had progressed sufficiently I was moved on to the PRI physiotherapy team. Again the level of care and the clarity of information and advice given was excellent. Now, five months since the fracture occurred I have completed my visits to PRI and am continuing to make progress using the very helpful sets of exercises that the physiotherapist gave me.

At all times I felt that I was receiving professional, high-quality treatment from people who were genuinely interested in my case. I am very grateful for the care that I was given.
