I was recently rushed into A&E for a suspected ectopic pregnancy on my right side. From the moment I was in A&E, the care given was nothing short of phenomenal.
My BP was 250/198 which was double checked straight away and I was given meds to lower my BP down straight away before being taken to the gyn side room in A&E to be scanned for internal bleeding. This all happened within one hour of arriving at the hospital.
Once I was transferred up to ward 49, the care and attention shown was out of this world. Everything was explained so well in so many details so I knew my options. I had an emergency scan in the morning which confirmed an ectopic pregnancy on my right tube. Within 2 hours of this I was in surgery.
Student Nurse Nicole was fantastic. She saw that I wasn’t coping and took time out to sit with me whilst i cried and mourned the loss of the baby still in my stomach, when it was all becoming too much Nicole and Nurse KerryAnn both gave me time to process everything before being rushed to surgery.
Once I was back from surgery, the care which I thought was already at its best, was even better. When they say buzz when you need someone- they really mean it. You are never made to feel like a pest, they truly go above and beyond to help you out in every way possible.
I had to tell my young children what had happened to our baby whilst in hospital and I broke down and Nurse Nicole was there to help and distract my children with biscuits until I was ready. A small act of kindness which truly helped more than you could know.
When they brought the baby loss memory box from Simba, Nicole and Karen took the time to really explain everything in detail and held me whilst I cried throughout.
There is so much more I could go on to say, but honestly Ward 49 you really are spectacular and the care and love you show is amazing. The best team and the best ward.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being there for me and my family during the worst week of our lives.
"The best ward in the hospital"
