This is a thank you to the many dedicated and caring staff who cared for my father during the last weeks of his life: the paramedics who brought him into hospital; the A and E staff; Acute Medical Unit B staff; staff on ward C9, and particularly staff on C11, the bereavement team and chaplains during Dad’s end of life care. Throughout his stay, Dad and our family were treated with kindness and consideration in difficult circumstances. Dad was delirious and behaving out of character for such a gentle man, but he was always treated and spoken to respectfully, even when he was unaware of his surroundings. As a family, we were kept informed about his treatment throughout, and shown compassion by every member of staff we came across. In these times when the National Health Service seems to come under constant criticism, we felt it important to again say a huge thank you for what you do.
"Hardworking and compassionate staff"
