"Rude"

About: Fairfield General Hospital

When contacting your switchboard, it would much better if you trained them how to answer the phone for example "Good morning switch board how can I help" not the barked "SWITCH " I thought it was a robot? some what rude, then I get "DEPARTMENT" for some people the first contact they have is the switchboard, they may be having the day from hell, they do not need to be barked at, whoever trained this young man should hang their head in shame, and if you paid them for training I would request the money back. If I had ever answered a phone in such a manner when in work, I would have been reprimanded if I was lucky. So whoever deals with this you need to have a word or two 20/6/25

Dear Mr Brindley

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re very sorry that your call to our switchboard left you feeling frustrated and upset. This is not the standard of communication we expect, and we sincerely apologise for the tone and manner in which your call was handled.

Please be assured that your feedback has been noted and will be escalated to our senior leadership team for review and appropriate action. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

Kind regards

The Patient Experience Team
