"Efficiency, professionalism and profound human kindness"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Gynaecology Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Medical Imaging

(as the patient),

Following a post-menopausal bleed and an ambiguous blood test result, I was referred to the Centre for Women's Health at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital on a 2 week fast track basis.  My experience has been amazingly good.

I received an invite for investigations in no time; the explorations were carried out in an atmosphere of utmost efficiency and also utmost kindness.  No abnormalities were found.  I was then referred for a CT scan just in case there were issues elsewhere in the body; again I received a very prompt appointment and the experience was entirely positive.

A mere three days later I received a letter setting out in comprehensive detail the results of the scan (again, happily, no abnormalities).  The speed with which this letter was sent impressed me hugely; the amount of detail that the consultant had taken to set out fully the results was astonishing and hugely reassuring.  He could simply have said - no abnormalities detected,  but instead went to great pains to detail every element of the exercise.  And finally, he began his letter by saying - I am really pleased to say.

It is this combination of efficiency, professionalism and profound human kindness that makes this hospital the very, very special place that it is.

Dear Saturnne86,

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with some feedback.

It sounds like you received a very prompt and professional pathway for your referral and I am so pleased that you were treated with kindness and care. The fact that your results were sent out to you so quickly and were thorough, helping to alleviate anxiety and provide reassurance, is credit to both our Doctors and administration staff. You haven't named who your consultant was, but I will be sharing your lovely feedback with the whole team.

Best wishes

Hi Emma, and thank you for this. My consultant was Mr Peyton-Jones; if you're able to thank him from me, I'd really appreciate it.. The nurse working with him was equally wonderful. Thank you all.
