"Complaint regarding unsafe and failed discharge"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Elderly medicine

(as a relative),

My frail mother - who is in her late 80s and is suffering from numerous ailments -  was released from ward A22 Forth Valley Royal Hospital whilst not being fit for release. No family members were consulted about her release.

There is an ongoing complaint regarding this matter, which was submitted 77 days ago! FVRH’s complaint process looks to have all complaints completed within 20 days.

I have contacted the Patients Relations Team, to be informed that they are lacking staff and are well behind on their complaints.

In my experience, there is an abject failure by FVRH, and yet again another process that eradicates the standing of FVRH.

Dear Matelot

My apologies for the delay in responding to your story and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to write to us and share your family and mum's experience. I know your mum's discharge will have been distressing for your mum and your family, and I would like to assure you that staff will be concerned on reading your story.

I am sorry that you have an on-going complaint with the Patient Relations Team and I would be grateful if you could please contact me via e-mail at caroline.logan@nhs.scot with you and your mum's details to enable me to provide you with support and information.

I hope this is helpful and look forward to hearing from you.

Caroline
