I attended Ninewells A&E early May for a planned X-ray after I’d had a fall and hurt my ankle a couple days before. The doctor who seen me asked if I was satisfied with their word that my ankle was not fractured, I said with all due respect I would like an X-ray. They obliged. After reviewing the X-ray the doctor told me there was good news and bad news, good news there is no fracture, bad news I had a bad sprain and bone spurs, and that a radiologist would review my X-ray and contact me if they detected anything that the doctor did not.
Two weeks later I went to see my GP about the bone spurs due to the pain in my foot. She checked my notes and informed the letter from A&E advised I had a malleolus avulsion - which she confirmed is a fracture. My GP was shocked at what I had been told. I have been walking on a broken ankle for 2 weeks.
Not only did they not identify my fracture, no follow up call was ever received by the radiographer. I thought it was very poor level of care. I feel extremely let down, and find this standard of care is unacceptable.
