"Rehabilitation"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Assessment and Rehab Centre

(as a service user),

I was offered gym rehabilitation because I'm suffering from fatigue after all the cancer treatment which would be great but came with an hourly fee I could ill afford - so no rehabilitation for me.

I don't recall ever having to pay for rehabilitation after an illness, I thought this was covered by all the years you paid contributions. Cancer patients need rehabilitation and help with recovery, I don't know why the NHS are not providing rehabilitation for cancer patients?

Good morning VARob,

Thank you for providing feedback regarding the rehabilitation you were offered, I am saddened to read that what has been offered does not meet expectations.

I am keen to understand more around this situation and wonder if you could possibly contact me via email at lynnette.marshall2@nhs.scot to provide more information.

Kind regards,

Lynnette

Update posted by VARob (a service user)

I've not been able to get any further help regarding rehabilitation unfortunately.

I feel this is very important not only to my health but to all patients that have had cancer treatment. I'm aware that cancer patients in Fife were previously offered a free six week tailored gym plan, advised by a Macmillian volunteer who received this in Fife. Not sure as to why NHS Fife would take this away from cancer patients? As this has been proven to be very beneficial to the survival of cancer patients.
