"Compassionate staff in the right job"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Gynaecology (Ward 49)

(as a service user),

I arrived to ward 49 via A&E whilst having a miscarriage. Due to complexity in my scans I was admitted in total 3 times to the ward over a 3 week period and ultimately had a salpingectomy to address an ectopic pregnancy. Every time I was on the ward I was treated with respect, compassion and true care by every member of staff - the nurses, healthcare assistants, doctors and catering staff.

It was a terrifying and confusing time to be in and out of hospital without answers yet I felt safe and cared for every time. Every member of staff in ward 49 is a shining example of our healthcare system and they were all born to be in this job. I cannot thank you all enough for making me feel so cared for, nothing was too much to ask for and we even had a giggle at times.

Thank you all.

Dear Flufflyslippers29,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely care opinion about ward 49.

I'm sorry for your loss and to hear you had such a terrifying and confusing time and had to come in and out of hospital so many times. Early pregnancy can be a time of uncertainty which is always difficult but good to hear the nurses on the ward kept your spirits up with a wee giggle, they always try their best to make patients feel at ease.

It's great to hear how you were treated with such respect and compassion during each occasion you were admitted to the ward, where you were made feel safe which is so important.

Wishing you a speedy recovery from your surgery.

Best Wishes

Fiona Proctor

Senior Charge Nurse

Ward 49, QEUH.
