I'm in my 60s and I took a heart attack in late 2024.
I was a smoker for about 47 years but after my heart attack I was told to stop smoking 🚬. Those that are reading this, as you all know you go to the doctors with a cold, it's always the same, you get told have to stop smoking but this was a different story.
It wasn't easy but I haven't had a cigarette since November. The support I have been getting from the smoke help line has been fantastic, they have been phoning me very week to see how I'm doing. I was getting the cigarette patches from them, went down every 4 weeks.
It's been really hard at some points with the sweating and the random nightmares. l got to point where 3 weeks into the the program I did have a roll up but I took 2 or 3 draws and put it out, the smell of it just enough to tell me I don't want this.
Listen, i'll tell you my taste and smell as totally came back, food has never been so different and just the smell of a cigarettes are just not for me now. There is a lot of help out there but it's down to you and having the willpower to try and stop smoking .
P.S. It is now 5 months and I have no intending to go back to smoking, if you are thinking of stopping just call the help line, they have helped me so much.
