"Bowel Cancer"

About: Victoria Hospital / Clincal Oncology

(as the patient),

Following on from my last story about my Operation, which went really well,. I decided to take part in the RACC C  trial which to me after reading about it and talking over with family I realise it was a great decision.

I had a  bit of blood taken  about 400mm which was sent  of to a lab and 11days later was given the results by my Oncology Dr (Dr Clive) it was the happiest day of my life since my Gt grandchildren were born. Bloods came back clear and so no chemo needed,  So glad to have decided to take the trial which not only negates the need for chemo and if overall success  it should save healthcare around the world  a lot of money that can be spent elsewhere.

Can I just say all the staff I met and was treated by were exemplary can't fault any of my treatment which from start till now was around 10 weeks. Brilliant. I know our health service is under severe pressure but I believe those in a position to sort it (all parliamentarians ) should get on and do something about it. Hope this is acceptabl.

Dear novembergs57,

My name is Murdina MacDonald, I am the Lead Cancer Nurse. Thank you for sharing your account of care. it is heartening to hear how well your operation went and how positive your experience with the RACC C trial has been. Your decision to take part in the trial was clearly a significant one, and I can only imagine the relief you must have felt when receiving the news that no chemotherapy was needed. Moments like these are precious, and I’m pleased for you and your family.

It’s wonderful to hear that the care you received from our staff met your expectations and that you felt well supported throughout your journey. Our teams are dedicated to providing the highest level of care, and I will be sure to pass on your appreciation—it will mean a great deal to them.

Your insight into the potential impact of this trial is also invaluable. Your participation has played a part in that, and that is something to be proud of.

I also recognise your thoughts on the wider challenges facing the health service, and I appreciate your recognition of the pressures faced by staff. While there are complexities involved in addressing these challenges, your perspective is a powerful reminder of the need for continued focus and commitment in ensuring high-quality care remains accessible to all.

Thank you once again for taking the time to share your experience. Wishing you continued good health and all the very best in the weeks and months ahead.

Warm Wishes

Murdina
