I very recently suffered a Proximal Humerus fracture by falling over our Dog. My spectacular fall from Grace was stopped by the Toilet Bowl, the full height and weight of my body crashed down unhindered on the Porcelain Devil. I count myself fortunate as a Head shot would have had been a very different story!
It did take 11 days of an agonising dangling arm before I was contacted for a Plate and Screws procedure, which was unfortunate.
However, I do feel that Fife NHS thoroughly redeemed themselves by the quality of care I received in Ward 33 in the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
Every single staff member showed genuine care and concern. I was attended to quickly in every single matter. Heck, even the food was awesome; they provided Vegan Gluten Free fare which was a delightful surprise.
I was visited very regularly by all manner and levels of staff and made to feel like I was important in their duty of care.
Unfortunately, I cannot recall any of their names, but a big shout out to Granny Charge Nurse in Purple and the Honey Bear physio.. you know who you are.
I would not recommend breaking a bone, but if you need to, this is the place to be seen!
