I visited the pain clinic in queen Margaret hospital yesterday ,this being my second appointment with this clinician . Having fibromyalgia for ten plus years and suffering severe fatigue is challenging as well as various other illnesses . Trying to explain this on both occasions to them I was made to feel inadequate . I was there as I want help but they made me feel they could not help me as my fatigue was a problem to their care plan . I felt judged and not worthy of help , this is a debilitating illness as it is without being made to feel I’m not worthy of help ! I did say to them maybe you’re not understanding what I’m saying and how I feel as a whole and may be I’d be better suited to another specialist . They said that’s fine I wish you well and you will be put on a waiting list . No empathy just arrogant from my point of view and I found it difficult to open up to them as they made me feel they couldn’t offer me much also found them patronising . It has made me feel awful and that I don’t want to go back came out feeling down and embarrassed not a good experience .
