Today I completed a 20-day period of Radiology treatment at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee as a result of Prostate Cancer. During the whole experience from around March this year, I received superb attention from all staff involved in all stages of the process. I was always advised exactly what was happening and how my treatment would progress, eventually leading to the Radiotherapy.
In the department itself you were always made welcome by the reception staff. In a very short time, they knew exactly who you were despite a continual turnover of patients. If my appointment was to be delayed, even for a few minutes I was always advised of this by someone. The radiotherapists, similarly, were very friendly and explained what was going to happen. They always asked how you were and advised re remedies for any issues I brought up.
The department itself was spotlessly clean and tidy at all times. The male toilet was in need of some attention to the flooring and skirting boards but the staff on reception told me this was in hand.
The car park suffered from the usual problem of too many vehicles for too few spaces. However, there was a good turnover of patients, provided you arrived early, and I was only unable to park in it on four occasions. Nearby Maggies centre proved a salvation on these occasions and prevented too much stress regarding being late for my appointment.
All in all, my experience was a very good one.
