"The care, support and information meant so much to us"

About: Victoria Hospital / Clinical haematology

(as a relative),

After suffering a sore back and receiving blood tests my Mum was referred by her gp very quickly to haematology where she was seen by the consultant Dr Raed and admitted to ward 34. Straight away we were made to feel welcome, cared for and at ease. We cannot speak more highly of the staff caring for her in the ward. This was an extremely anxious worrying time for my mum and our family and the care, support and information we received continuously meant so much to us and has helped greatly.

I would like to mention Dr Becky , TJ, Jade, Shaun, Paulina, Jen, Lucy, Glenda, Karen from the day unit and the rest of the team who i've never managed to get the names. A big thank you to Lil the auxiliary who made us feel really relaxed  and smile when we really needed to most.

Dear NicD

Thank you so much for taking the time to get in touch and your kind words for all the staff within the ward. I will ensure to share your post with them and SCN Susan Paton. I am sorry to hear your mum has been unwell and hope she is feeling a better.

It is lovely to hear as a team we were able to make this time for you less worrying and we helped to support both you and your mum. As a team we always try to support our patient's and families and to hear your positive feedback is amazing. We have a saying in Ward 34 that we along with patients, family and other health professionals are team haem and your feedback confirms this.

In your post you have mentioned staff who have worked in the ward for a number of years, staff who have recently joined and staff who work with us occasionally and to hear that everyone has made a difference demonstrates a caring ethos which we are very proud of. I agree with you, Lil makes everyone smile and her care and attention is second to none.

Once again, thank you for getting in touch and if there is anything I can help with, please do not hesitate in getting in touch

Best wishes

Dear Nicd,

My name is Murdina Macdonald. I am the Lead Cancer Nurse. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of care with us particularly during such a stressful time. We understand how worrying it must have been for you and your mum so we’re so glad that Dr. Raed, Dr. Becky, TJ, Jade, Shaun, Paulina, and the rest of the team made you feel cared for during such a challenging time.

We’re especially pleased Lil was able to bring a smile when you needed it most. It’s often those small moments of kindness and warmth that make such a big difference during difficult times. Lil and the rest of the team will be delighted to hear that their care helped both your mum and family feel more at ease.

At the recent NHS Fife Staff Awards the team won the Clinical Team of the Year Award, which celebrates their effective and efficient collaborative teamwork and recognises that the team provide high quality care that delivers clear patient benefits and exceptional service.

The whole team will be thrilled to hear your kind words. We wish your mum all the best for the future.

Warm Regards

Murdina
