"Links Medical Practice - Triage"

About: General Practices in Grampian

(as a service user),

I've always thought Links Medical Practice has been amazing, and their triage system really works. I called up this morning with a very unwell little one. I first spoke to a knowledgeable and friendly receptionist, who listened as I told her my little one's symptoms. I quickly received a call back from a GP who invited us in to be assessed. The GP was thorough, reassuring and explained everything so well to two worried parents. I know that generally triage and receptionists get a bit of a hard time, but this is a perfect example of why the processes are in place. Thank you so much to everyone at the practice - thanks to you we're now back home, with a sleeping little one and the reassurance you're at the end of a call if we need you.

Hello ABZ96838,

Thank you so much for sharing you and your little ones story with us. I'm glad to hear you are now all back at home and hopefully on the road to recovery. Having an ill little one can be a worrying time, but knowing you can get good explanations and friendly advice when you need it makes such a difference.

It'll mean a lot to the staff at Links practice to hear your feedback. As with many services in the healthcare system, the practices are working really hard to do their best with limited resources and time - which isn't always easy. Your example of how the triage system worked for you will help re-assure them they are getting it right with the processes they have in place.

I work with the Quality Improvement & Assurance Team in NHS Grampian and part of my role is to make sure the feedback that comes in for the general practices, through Care Opinion, reaches them. Most in Grampian are independently run and have their own complaints and feedback systems - they aren’t registered to receive Care Opinion feedback directly and it’s best to contact the practice directly. However, as I have the practice name I'd be happy to forward to them on your behalf. If they get back to me with a response I will share with you on this thread.

Take care,

Kirsten

Hello again ABZ96838. I've been intouch with Practice Manager Alex at Links, who has asked me to share the below with you:

'Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience. Our team really appreciates hearing feedback like this - it's a great boost for everyone. It's great to hear that everything went smoothly for you and your little one. We know it can be really stressful when your child is unwell, so I'm glad our team was able to put your minds at ease. It's always nice to get positive feedback on the triage system too - we really appreciate your understanding of why it's in place. Hope your little one is feeling better now!

Aleksandra Spizewska, Practice Manager
