I went to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to be induced due to a partial waters break. My story can be split into 3: my experience in the antenatal ward, my experience in the Labour ward and my experience in the post-natal ward.
My experience in the Antenatal ward was great; I had to have a pessary administered to start induction, but the midwife and student covering our ward room wafter us were patient and helpful, putting our minds at ease about what was to come.
When we moved to the Labour ward we also very well supported - two separate shifts of a midwife and student gave us excellent support during the labour and birth (forcep-assisted with full epidural)
Unfortunately our experience in the post-Natal ward was nowhere near as good - the midwife assigned to our room was brusque and unhelpful, stating that she did not have time to help with feeding even though I was completely numb with an epidural; I was just directed to syringe & bottle feed rather than breast feed as it was less work for them. We discharged ourselves as early as we could and went home after 2 nights
