After a very negative experience in 2021 having my first baby I was really anxious and scared about returning to swah for my second baby.
However, I am writing this after leaving the maternity unit and I have to say it was a wonderful and positive experience.
I was cared for by a mixture of midwives and students. The students were excellent. They were attentive, informative and kind. Emma particularly was very good. Nothing was a bother. I was checked regularly, seen by any medical professional that they thought was necessary and never had to ask or enquire about anything as it was already communicated or done.
Theatre sister Wendy and the staff Helen, Rosemary and Naomi; Along with Geraldine the HCA were wonderful. They were prompt, informative, kind and calming at a very anxious time. Dr Cheema was a gentleman, and very on the ball. Martina in recovery was lovely and reassuring. Theatre can be a very scary place and daunting but the staff make you feel so relaxed, they have a great rapport with each other and made the experience so lovely.
The current students on the midwifery unit are brilliant. I wish I could remember all their names.
The breastfeeding nurse was so so kind and reassuring (Anne Marie?)
The HCA’s always made sure we were fed and watered and had clean sheets and even offered to help us wash and dress.
I can’t say enough good things about everyone in there. And I’m so thankful and happy it was the experience it was.
I stayed two nights and left the ward calm, happy and content. This experience has gone a long way to rewriting the awful one I had in 2021.
Thank you
"A much much better experience"
