"There was no judgement, just encouragement and advice"

About: Quit your Way / Quit your way (community)

(as a service user),

Stopped smoking over 6 months ago with the help of Louise at Clydebank Health Centre. I done really well on my own for a few months but went back to smoking. I felt embarrassed about contacting Louise again but I remember she said the door is always open.

Louise reassured me that it can sometimes take a few attempts to quit for good, this made me feel better, there was no judgement, no lecture just encouragement and advice. Once again the chats, support, advice and checking of my carbon monoxide level have been so good especially when I felt like giving it all up.

Doing great again I'm now  12 weeks without smoking and hopefully this is the time I do it for good. My breathing is so much better, my cough has disappeared and I have more money to spend. My reading has went from 25 to 2 that's what I liked about the clinic, I wanted it to be low so it kept me on track. The good thing was when I couldn't make my appointment Louise called me for a chat so I still had that weekly support. Thank you.

Dear Gordon53

Thank you so much for sharing your inspiring story! The journey to quit smoking can be challenging, and it’s common for people to need a few attempts before they succeed for good. We’re thrilled to hear how supportive and encouraging Louise and the team at Clydebank Health Centre have been for you throughout your journey.

At the NHS, we understand that quitting smoking isn’t easy, and we’re here to support you every step of the way, without any judgement. It's wonderful to hear how the regular check ins, advice, and carbon monoxide monitoring helped keep you on track, and how much of a difference quitting has already made to your health and wellbeing.

Congratulations on reaching 12 weeks without smoking! The improvements to your breathing, the disappearance of your cough, and having extra money to spend are all fantastic benefits that will only continue to grow. Please know that our door will always be open, just as Louise said, and we are here to support you, no matter what.

Thank you again for your kind words, and we wish you continued success in your smoke-free journey!

Kind regards

Kevin
