Went to visit elderly relative at Selby War Memorial Hospital, only to be told that children under 12 are not allowed to visit. I asked why, and was told it was policy. Policy is not a reason in itself, what is the policy exactly?
Fortunately there were 2 adults visiting, so our 10-year old child could be chaperoned in the general reception waiting area while the other adult visited the patient. The child cannot see a poorly elderly relative, which upsets both of them.
Can York and Scarborough NHS Foundation Trust not make this clear on their website before visitors travel?
