"The staff were fantastic"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

Feedback is something you should offer promptly so I should apologise at the start for how late this feedback is.

I went to the Royal Infirmary with concerns about possible heart issues. It was a scary situation.

A&E must be one of the most stressful places in the world - as a patient it was stressful so I can only imagine how much more stressful it must be for the staff who work there.

The staff were - all of them from the lady at reception to the nurses and doctor I spoke to - fantastic.

The nurses and other staff were clearly already extremely busy when we got there but did all they could to explain what was happening and what I could expect. They were friendly and professional and helped calm me down - something I can't stress the benefits of enough.

Gerry, the nurse in the room I was waiting in, was great at this and helped while I waiting nervously to see the doctor that day.

I had multiple tests and checks (including a CT scan). The scanning guys were great - everything was clearly explained and they were friendly and we even managed to have a chat while they were getting set up.

The doctor I spoke to - Dr. Adeagba - was absolutely 1st rate. She was a quietly spoken but friendly person. She took me through what was happening, listened to me and kept me calm.

When the scan didn't pick up a concern for my heart but did register another issue which required a 2nd scan she kept it all in perspective for me and explained the next steps which led to an MRI later.

Happily no further action was required and I wish I had sent this feedback on sooner.

As it is I lost the details including the names of the staff I spoke to and when I found them again I wanted to send this on immediately (& apologies again at delay)

Thanks you to all staff involved - you're doing a fab job and I really appreciate you all.

Dear NotAFanOfNeedles

Thank you so much for sharing your experience of attending the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. We truly appreciate your feedback, no matter when it arrives, and we're delighted to hear about the care you received.

We understand how frightening it can be to visit A&E, especially with concerns about your heart, and we’re pleased that our team was able to provide the reassurance and support you needed. Your kind words about the staff, from the reception team to the nurses, doctors, and scanning team, are heartening to hear. It’s especially gratifying to know that Gerry and Dr Adeagba made such a positive impact on your experience.

We’ll make sure your feedback is passed along to all the staff involved. They will be encouraged to know that their professionalism, friendliness, and dedication made a difference during what must have been a stressful time for you.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re glad to hear that no further action was required and wish you continued good health.

Kind regards

Kevin
