Background info….. had knee replacement a year ago which is still causing major problems, been hospitalised at least 3 times & treatment(?) still ongoing. I have frequent falls at home due to knee locking & ‘giving way’. I live on my own.
Check in at reception, told at least 4 hour wait. Surprised, as only 3 other patients waiting, but ok. Triaged within 5 minutes, needed X-ray on hand & knee as had another fall at home. Triage nurse told me that she would take form round to X-ray as I was in such pain and mobility issues. Sat in waiting area for 1 hour 25mins before I realised nurse hadn’t given form in. Told it didn’t matter as clinicians would have realised and I wouldn’t have missed my slot.?
Up until I eventually saw a clinician I was not asked if I needed any pain relief, and no apology given for the unacceptable delay.
I understand if it was busy, but during my time in the unit I saw maybe a total of 5 patients seen. It was deserted by the time I left, not a single patient.
Not a good experience, will try very hard not to use them again, felt like I was an inconvenience to them.
"Sadly lacking"
