"Very relaxing and enjoyable"

About: Outpatients Department / Wellbeing

(as the patient),

I was referred to the Wellbeing service at St Andrews Hospice by a health care professional who I was seeing who thought that I would benefit from attending over a period of weeks. This takes place in the Outpatient Dept at St Andrews Hospice.

My first week I arrived unsure what to expect but within a few minutes I was at ease and was sitting with a Coffee chatting to others who I was introduced to.

Each week after having a Coffee or Tea there was a range of different activities such as group exercise which was done sitting down or group relaxation sessions.  Then it would be time for lunch which was provided, this was nice home made soup and sandwiches. After lunch there was the chance to take part in a quiz, or arts and crafts,  or sometimes a visitor who would talk on something very relevant to people living with different health conditions and disabilities.

There was also the chance to enjoy some complementary therapy which was very relaxing and enjoyable.

Every week I left the Outpatient Dept much better than I did when I arrived and I cannot find the words to say how much I appreciated everything that they did to help and support me .

Our Wellbeing sessions aim to provide a warm welcome and to provide therapeutic interventions that suit each person's individual needs. I am so glad that you felt welcomed and that you enjoyed the various activities.

It is great to know that you enjoy the food provided so much. Our catering team will be delighted to hear this. They always try to go above and beyond to make tasty and nutritious food.

Hearing you say the you leave feeling better than when you arrived means everything. Thank you so much for saying this. We will continue to improve with the help of your feedback,

Thanks for saying that you will pass on my comments to the catering team as I know that everyone who attended when I was there did truly enjoy the food and would add there own thanks to this.

When it comes to St Andrews Hospice it is clear that while everyone has different roles or jobs they all work as a team and that is what helps make St Andrews Hospice such a very special place. Like myself and my wife there are many people who really appreciate everything that St Andrews Hospice does to help and support not just patients but their families as well.
