I was referred to the Wellbeing service at St Andrews Hospice by a health care professional who I was seeing who thought that I would benefit from attending over a period of weeks. This takes place in the Outpatient Dept at St Andrews Hospice.
My first week I arrived unsure what to expect but within a few minutes I was at ease and was sitting with a Coffee chatting to others who I was introduced to.
Each week after having a Coffee or Tea there was a range of different activities such as group exercise which was done sitting down or group relaxation sessions. Then it would be time for lunch which was provided, this was nice home made soup and sandwiches. After lunch there was the chance to take part in a quiz, or arts and crafts, or sometimes a visitor who would talk on something very relevant to people living with different health conditions and disabilities.
There was also the chance to enjoy some complementary therapy which was very relaxing and enjoyable.
Every week I left the Outpatient Dept much better than I did when I arrived and I cannot find the words to say how much I appreciated everything that they did to help and support me .
"Very relaxing and enjoyable"
