"I stayed in Millview in July. Pros and cons"

About: Mill View Hospital

Anything else?

Please show staff and say thamks for the good bits! they are appreciated. Pros • Clean, great , modern building much much nicer than the psychiatric hospitals I've visited friends in in Scotland. • good healthy food. Best hospital food I've ever had. • some fantastic nurses (inc nursing assistants) who actually listened to patients needs and talked to us. • 1 great art class,1 great facials/ beauty class, meditation although more of these would have been nice. • lovely green space outside. Cons • dinner at 5 is too early. Most of us had to get meds before bed at 1030 and lots of these meds make you hungry. So 5pm till the morning is too long or you eat sweets etc all eve which is not going to make you feel good. 630/7pm dinner would be a much better idea. • while some medical staff where great, some were not. When I first arrived, I was in so much physical pain as well as mental pain I could hardly stand up. I had tp bim shiffle along the floor to get to the canteen etc as there was no wheel chair. One particular nurse shouted at me ato stand and walk. I got upset and so maybe wasn't the best at conceyinh a sentence buy it was clear I couldn't walk easily. He shouted grabbed by arms pushing me back to my room. This experience was really not good for my already fragile mental health. • no means of exercise, gym, yoga for patients. Physical health and mental Heath are v closely related. Would the Nhs ever be able to stretch to some spin bikes or a yoga instructor? I really missed my routine of exercise and no exercise didn't help the fact I was on meds that make you put on weight and so gained 1 stone in a month. • MAIN criticism was that I never received any actual talking therapies while in there. I believe these would help more than drugs. I now finally still on therapies lists and it's December. • last thing. A working tv with DVD and subtitles would be great. When u was there the tv only had 3 channels, poor volume and often noisy so it seemed impossible to watch.
