My story begins in January 2023. I noticed something in my groin, it turned out to be a hernia, so I went to my family doctor for a referral. After a few months, it turns out that the doctor ignored the entire conversation. Another general practitioner sends a referral to the hospital. In the meantime, my hernia became larger and more troublesome.
The next step is to wait for the letter from the surgery. After 7 months, I received information that I had been put on the waiting list. In the meantime, I also had a visit to A&E due to pain, I had to wait 10 hours for the examination.
In March I wrote my first complaint to NHS Grampian and the response I received was disappointing. No specific answers to the questions asked, no compliance with the TTG principle or any standards.
It is July 2024 and I am still waiting for a surgery date 1.5 years after my GP diagnosed the case. I wrote 3 complaints and none of them contradicted anything that could be found on the official NHS websites. The waiting time is completely different than the one given to me by the employee.
Of course everything is still Covid's fault, I feel these people don't take any responsibility for anything. So dear NHS workers (I don't mean doctors or nurses), get to work! Because the standards have been shocking!
