My little boy was seen at Roe Valley Hospital. Both staff members delivered a kind and empathetic service and were very understanding. However my little boy was unable to have his eye test completed as he would not get the drops put in his eye.
My son has a visual impairment where he is under the care of the Royal Victoria Hospital Ophthalmology Team. At his last review they informed us that he could have his eye test done locally in community Opticians and they would continue to review the health of his eyes every 12 to 18 months.
My little boy is completely traumatised at the thought of getting eye drops put in and I'm wondering is this a requirement for an eye test to renew his current prescription? The recent appointment was extremely traumatic for him and for me as a parent and it would be great if we could find an alternative or if drops are a requirement.
