After 5 weeks in hospital my husband was discharged but was very weak.
He had several infections whilst in hospital including norovirus.. he also collapsed 3 days into stay. On top of fact he has prostate cancer, Parkinson's disease and heart failure it had been discovered he had 3 vertebrae fractures in his spine and osteoporosis.
Someone was here at home within hours of him returning home to assess his needs.
For the next 3/4 weeks carers came each morning and 2 weeks in evening to assist but mainly encourage him to wash and dress/ undress himself and get up and down stairs.
All of which I was very grateful for as I was in recovery after a trapeziectomy operation and had limited capability.
On top of this the Occupational therapist organised various aids to help him e.g. perching stools, frames around toilets and stool in shower and most helpful of all a 2nd hand rail on stairs.
After 2 months he is still struggling but physiotherapist is now visiting to endeavour to make him more mobile.
Very grateful for all help supplied.
