I was recently recalled for a mammogram after something was found on my first visit, some days before. I have to say I was rather anxious as never before had I been recalled. But, I have to say, from the moment I entered the breast clinic, I was treated with dignity and respect and put at ease that I had done the right thing in coming to the appointment.
The other ladies in the bright and cheerful waiting room were so chatty, sharing stories and general chitchat. I felt at ease. Then tea and coffee and biscuits arrived ! Well, we all love a wee cuppa and this was most welcome indeed. Thanks for that, tea lady 👍
I had a chat with a doctor, who gave my left breast a thorough examination, a repeat mammogram, an in-depth ultrasound, and took a seat back in waiting area. The radiologist called me back in after looking at my scans etc (I did think she was the doctor) and she told me the good news that I had fatty breast tissue and would be recalled as usual in 3 years.
Well, I was so relieved indeed, I know some ladies won’t get this news, they may have cancer but, at least it is being detected early, and they can start treatment etc, giving them the best chance.
All the staff I came across on my visit were very professional, caring ladies, all in the right job and I just wanted to say thank you so much for your care you provide, especially in times when the NHS gets bad press.
So if you get a second letter, please please do attend, it may save your life.
"Very professional, caring ladies"
