"Maternity services"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / Maternity care

(as a service user),

Care in the hospital was brilliant and have no complaints at all when i had my planned section with my second child 3 weeks ago.  However the mattress on the bed was faulty and has caused me ongoing issues with my lower back i am having to see the gp for. The pain in my back was worse than the recovery from the actual section.

Hi Pegasussf89,

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch and provide us with your feedback. I am pleased the care you received exceeded your expectations but saddened to read of the mattress issue and ongoing discomfort you are facing. Your feedback will allow us to check all of our mattresses in the maternity ward and ensure they meet the required standard and to avoid any other service users being affected by the same issue.

I would like to apologise that your recent birth experience has been less than optimal, if you would wish a formal response or to discuss this with one of the team I would urge you to contact us via dg.patientservices@nhs.scot

Best Wishes
