In mid March 2024 I woke up with severe itchiness, redness and swelling spreading up my foot from my second toe. I was referred to Enhanced Foot Protection Team at Antrim Hospital.
I was seen by Podiatrists Jane and Sarah. Foot was x-rayed, bloods taken and doctor on duty examined the foot. The team quickly diagnosed a bacterial infection. The toe was dressed, a cannula was inserted in my right arm and antibiotics were administered through the cannula.
I was referred to Whiteabbey Hospital for intravenous antibiotics to be given for seven days. I returned to the Enhanced Foot Protection Team a week later for a further checkup. Infection was clear and no further action was necessary.
The service I was given was excellent and cannot speak highly enough of Jane, Sarah and the team for their professionalism, care and concern.
"The service I was given was excellent"
