"Excellent, patient and caring"

About: East Kilbride Locality Support Service / Treatment Room

(as the patient),

As a result of Breast Cancer diagnosis, I have regularly given blood samples for Oncology since March 23.

Bloods can only be taken from the right arm as a result of treatment and over time it has proved harder, more painful and incredibly stressful to find suitable veins.

The phlebotomists at Hunter Centre Blood Clinic are excellent, patient and caring. As it became increasingly more difficult to withdraw the blood samples, the nurses would quickly and without hesitation pass me onto a phlebotomist they regarded more experienced.

Over the weeks a relationship was established with Anne.

She has taken time to learn my good veins and developed a technique which is swift and painless.

MSSMH

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about the treatment room service in Hunter Health Centre. It seems as though it has been particularly worrying for you to have your bloods taken, especially as it sounds as though its quite complex to obtain these.

Our care with patients should always be person centred and it sounds as though this has been the case with Anne taking your blood. Anne has clearly taken the time to listen to you and worked with you to make this a smooth and painless experience process for you.

I will pass your comments to Anne. Its so good to hear that this has been a positive experience for you.

Ann

Dear MSSMH

Thank you so much for posting this wonderful feedback and I will pass this to Ann who will be delighted.

I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis and having to have blood samples taken especially from the one arm. It sounds like Ann has mastered her technique making it so much easier for you.

I hope your keeping well and if you need any bloods we will be here for you in the Treatment Rooms.

Kind regards

Karen
