"Really as good as it gets"

About: Emergency Department / Minor Injuries NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) University Hospital Wishaw / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I stumbled and fell coming down a 2,500 foot hill, at 1,000ft. Struggled down then was driven home. Called NHS 24 the next day, had video consultation. Advised to go to Wishaw Minor Injuries Unit.

Got to Wishaw, and within 2 hours was x-rayed, fitted with moonboot and crutches after lateral malleolous fibula fracture detected, chech x-ray and sent home with clinic appointment 9 days later but told they'd review at trauma meeting on the Monday.

Called on the Monday morning to advise operation needed and on a list of 40. Called again the Monday evening and asked to come in the next day.

Operation completed before midday on the Tuesday. Now home, with clinic review and final review upcoming. All painkillers (blood thinner injections) supplied.

Really as good as it gets and amazing care, from all, in a very busy service.

Dear Stuart627

Thank you for sharing your experience on Care Opinion. I am sorry to learn you had cause to contact 111 after your fall, however am pleased to read that you had such a positive patient journey.

If you wish to share some more information with me, then I could identify the staff who managed your call to NHS 24 and share your Care Opinion story with them. We always like to ensure that staff see positive feedback to reinforce for them how valued their care is when people call our services.

You can contact me by email at Patient.Experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

Thank you again for sharing your experience and I hope you are on the mend soon.

Kind regards

Stephanie

I hope that you are recovering well.

Kind Regards,
