"My first pregnancy experience"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Obstetrics (Maternity care)

(as the patient),

My pregnancy experience started back in 2022 however, it ended in miscarriage twice before carrying successfully during the third pregnancy.

During this time the staff in Rubislaw ward were fantastic considering what I had to endure during my miscarriages with the first being more complicated.  I can’t thank the staff there enough in supporting me though a difficult time.

More recently I can’t thank all the midwives enough who were involved in the recent birth of my little boy.  From the triage staff who talked through the sweep process with me and then saw me the next day when my waters broke. To Emma and Rachel in the midwives unit, who then passed me onto Charlie who then took me to the labour ward.  Finally, handing over to Laura and Sam who did the final shift in getting my wee boy here safely.

The determination, support and care was absolutely fantastic and can’t be faulted in any way. Laura and Sam especially fought my corner to ensure a delivery in the labour ward instead of theatre and I will be forever grateful to them!

Also need to mention Sarah, who delivered my little boy in the end - it was a guessing game as to whose shift he was going to be born on.  After being in labour for 2 and a half days and being transferred to the summer field ward the staff there took great care and supported me through the most exhausting night! Again a massive thank you to you all!
