I requested a prescription on the NHS app on Wednesday 1st May 2024, by Friday 3rd May (over 48 hours later) it was still outstanding.

I rang the surgery twice and on both occasions was told that it was with the gp for approval today (Friday 3rd).

This is bank holiday weekend and my controlled drugs have to be ordered in by the pharmacy. The surgery request 48 hours to complete a prescription request...the surgery website also says that the pharmacy need 3-4 days to complete a prescription. Therefore I need to order my repeat prescription order roughly a week in advance. Also, bank holidays disrupt orders and deliveries so special attention should be given at these times.

It is now 9:30pm on Friday 3rd May, bank holiday weekend and my prescription has not been done. I am very angry that I was told by 2 different people (receptionists) that it would be done today.

I now have no alternative but to contact out of hours because none of the surgeries are open on Saturday 4th May.

What a waste of NHS money.
