"I am grateful to have this service available to me"

About: Learning Disability Community Services / Day Opportunities

(as a service user),

I have been with day opportunities for over 15 years. Over time my confidence has grown and I have been able to try lots of new things.  My favourite thing has been to get paid work, I have now worked at my current employer for nearly 10 years.

I also attend the base in Larne and have made lots of friends. I attend NRC in Larne one day a week for a Lifeskills course which I really enjoy.

My day opportunities Coordinator, Pamela, is very kind and she listens to me and is very helpful. I am grateful to have this service available to me. I have grown in confidence and realise I am capable of a lot more than I originally thought.

Hi; thank you for taking the time to send in your feedback about our Day Opportunities service which you say you've been part of for 15 years. That's a long time. Its great over this time you have had the opportunity to try out lots of new things which you say has helped with your confidence. You must be a very good employee if you are with the same employer for almost 10 years, well done you.

Great to see the variety you have in your week with recreational time with your friends; further education and employment; and all with the support of Pamela your Day Opportunities Coordinator who you say is kind, helpful and listens to you; sounds pretty good to me.

It is wonderful that you have written that you have found that you are more capable than you had first thought with all the confidence you have found in trying out community based opportunities. Keep taking positive risks with supports and doing new things that's what living is all about.

Thank you for posting your comments

Garth Anderson (Head of Service Day Opportunities)
