I was diagnosed with kidney cancer in Feb 2024 and was told the only way to deal with this was to remove my kidney.
I had not been in hospital for many years and for many reasons had a really bad opinion of hospitals/NHS so I was not looking forward to anything to do with coming in to hospital and having an operation.
I must say it was actually nothing like what I had expected, in fact a very positive experience, from going into the Surgical Admissions Lounge, to being discharged with my time spent on Hatton ward, I can't express how good every single member of staff were.
The staff's treatment of me and everyone else on that ward while I was there can only be described as excellent, completely restored my faith in the system. If I were told I had to go in again, I would not worry at all, we are so lucky to have it and the staff that work in it
"A very positive experience"
